Clearing Energy as a Preliminary Step

The Ritual to Release Feelings of Negativity is a ceremony to use when feeling deep sadness, frustration, or anger. It involves three phases: identifying the source of the intense emotion, releasing it, and experiencing the freedom of the transformation by moving forward with the energy of compassion.
The Ritual for Surrendering with Grace is a ceremony to assist with letting go of an object of attachment. This is a ceremony for times when an intense emotional attachment to a person, place or thing is impeding forward movement.
Clearing the energetic pathway before engaging in a ritual or blessing ceremony is important. This can be likened to cleaning out a cluttered room before redecorating it. Imagine the effect if one were to simply walk into a messy cluttered room and paint it a new color and move some new pieces of furniture inside, working around the clutter. Chances are, even though the energy of the room would change due to the new paint and new objects, the changes would be diminished, the effects minimal. The same holds true for the energy of intention that is brought into a ceremony. If the pathway is clear, the movement is more fluid, and the intended effects are more pronounced.
There are several ways in which to “clear” before a ceremony. In some cases ceremonies call for preliminary exercises where you will engage in an action that allows the release of stress, past behavioral patterns, or emotional expectations. These actions often involve some sort of physical or creative expression in order to identify what needs to be cleared. Then, within the ceremony an action of release is completed, and your awareness of the clearing is heightened so that new energy can flow.
In addition, at the beginning of each ceremony, there is a reminder to “Pause, Clear, Deepen…” This action facilitates the creation of new energy by taking the time to relax and clear energetic pathways. It is a powerful way to begin a ceremony, establishing sacred awareness and intention.
In situations where many difficult emotions are present, two rituals are offered that will assist with a deeper release. When anger, frustration or intense attachment exists, a virtual roadblock may occur. Entering into a ceremony when these emotions are elevated will likely not be as effective as in the case where a clearing occurs before the ceremony.
